Curb Painting Scam Alert
[August 23, 2009] We received the following notice from the City warning us about a curb painting scam. Please be advised.
We have received questions from residents who received a "Painting Notice" on their doors advising them that ABQ Curbs would be in their area to
paint street numbers on curbs so home owners can avoid a $500 fine from the city. This is not a city service and you are not obligated to accept this
service if you do not want to pay for it.
The City Ordinance states, "To insure the uniformity and regularity in the numbering of buildings and houses, all numbers shall be placed in the front of buildings or houses and in so conspicuous a manner that the number may be easily discernible and read from the street."
You will therefore not be fined as long as your house number is clearly visible. Please visit the Attorney General's website www.nmag.gov to learn about current scams in your area or to report consumer fraud.
Please pass this information along to your neighbors.

District 9: Charter School Feasibility Study
[September 17, 2008] Charter Schools are independent public schools designed by educators, parents, community leaders, educational entrepreneurs or others who seek to provide a quality education to children in their community.
The City of Albuquerque encourages you to give your opinion, input and feedback on a mid-high charter school located i n Sandia Science and Technology Park. The potential charter school will focus on science, math and technology. The future state of this charter school is creating a pipeline of knowledge and skills for the jobs being created over the next decade in Albuquerque and New Mexico. The community and your voice are really important.
For more information please contact Nicole Rifenbary (823-2000) or nicole@slsinc.com with your ideas regarding charter schools.
